Making a reading real

We get to do a lot of fun activities in our Chinese classes here at Mid Prairie.  However, one of the funnest things this year was working with the Forth Grade teachers and creating a combined lesson. This lesson tied a story the students were reading in their class with some cultural components and games we learned about during our Chinese sessions.  Students were able to really connect with the characters from the story because they were doing things the characters did.  It was a great chance for all of us to connect so many things into what will hopefully be a very memorable lesson.

Students learned a simplified version of the popular Chinese game "Mahjong."

Everyone got to try their hand at using chopsticks to eat some home made Chinese food.
